From the Editor:
When Fraction was born in May 2008, I had no idea that it would develop into a place that tens of thousands of people visited to see new and refreshing photography. Each year traffic has grown and the enthusiasm and opportunities for the featured photographers has blown me away. I am so honored and grateful to be able to provide a platform that gives emerging photographers exposure and momentum. This year has far exceeded my expectations in every way. In January we announced the Fraction Editions program, which gives each featured photographer an opportunity to put up one photograph for sale. The photographers make money and build collectors, and Fraction gives 10% of sales to the Fraction Acquisition Fund. The Fund is used to purchase work from Fraction photographers to be placed in museum collections. Because of your support of Fraction Editions, the Fund will give the University of New Mexico Art Museum $2500 to purchase photographs.
Even though there are now photographs available to buy each month, the Holiday Print Sale continues to blow it all out of the water. The HPS sales increased 24% over last year. Your purchases made so many photographer’s holiday season brighter!
In 2014, I am excited to travel to North Carolina (twice), Tucson, Orlando, Houston, Palm Springs and Santa Fe to see work, meet photographers, and lead photographic retreats (through Flash Powder Projects). And that’s all in just the first half of the year! Submissions continue to increase, and every day something new and spectacular hits my inbox. I know I have the best job on earth.
