A Vietnamese Prospect by Dat Vu

These images were taken during my extensive travel across Vietnam between 2016 and 2018. They are part of my umbrella project Muted Conversations. Titling the series A Vietnamese Prospect, I wish to reference the body of work American Prospects by Joel Sternfeld. It’s a road-trip photography series across a nation seemingly forever in loss. The first half are pictures from different provinces and cities, while the second half document livelihood around a fishing village named Đông Yên (Hà Tĩnh) and the industrial complex that displaced it–Formosa.
