Off-Season by Katarina Bishop

Issue 178

Beauty can be found at any time, not just on a bright day or during a summer month. While the weather is cold, attractions are closed, and emptiness abounds, moments of beauty are offered. On this journey through Armenia and Georgia, I aim to share these moments of splendor found in the roadside spots, empty paths, and scenes of daily life present during the off-season.

Technology is ubiquitous in our lives; it tells us when and where we should go to have the best experience. Despite its many benefits, it feels like little is left to be discovered and small occasions are missed. What do we overlook because we spend too much time researching a place or taking the most efficient route from one point to another? Spontaneous scenes of intrigue can arise from seeing where the day takes you. It is in these moments that we experience life originally and organically. These images were taken in locations I went to without significant planning. With a little curiosity, there is much to be discovered, especially during the off-season.
