Deb Schwedhelm
My career as an Air Force registered nurse and motherhood have deeply influenced my work, to include this series -- Forever Seven. My relationship with Max began when I photographed him and another little boy for their pediatric cancer foundation. Shortly after the cancer began to explode and take over Max's body, I approached the family regarding photographing Max regularly -- a collaborative effort between family and photographer. I wanted to share more than just a smiling portrait of a bald child; I wanted to share the realities of battling cancer -- the good, the bad, the ugly.
